Ethnic Events:

Support Haiti Events (Support Groups, Fundraisers & Vigils)

EthnicEvents.com extends its support to the thousands of Haitians who have been devastated by or indirectly affected by the earthquake disaster that took place earlier this week. Thousands of Haitians around the country are hoping for the best and grieving the worst as this tragedy unfolds.

According to the United States 2000 Census, the Haitian community in the United States is estimated at nearly 420,000 foreign born individuals with Haitian community leaders predicting as much as 1 million residents around the country.

With no real way to get in contact with loved ones, Haitians and non-Haitians alike are banding together to create support groups, fundraiser events and resources that will bring some sense of hope in an otherwise helpless situation.

The top ten states with the largest foreign-born populations from Haiti are:

Florida 182,224
New York 125,475
Massachusetts 33,862
New Jersey 31,963
Connecticut 7,902
Maryland 5,367
Pennsylvania 4,977
Georgia 4,909
Illinois 4,358
California 3,006
