László András:

The Top American event of Polish nature

June,19-21, Milwaukee, WI
Polish Fest in Milwaukee
was selected by the American Bus Association (ABA) as one of the 2008 Top 100 Events in North America. Each spring, a committee of ABA-member motor coach and tour operators selects the Top 100 Events for the subsequent year. Winners are chosen from hundreds of celebrations, festivals, fairs, commemorative events, and more that have been nominated by state tourism offices and local and regional CVBs.
To get nominated by ABA means not just to create the huge event and attract as many people as possible to its site. The event should also meet other criteria valuable for US companies involved in tourist business:
1. Does the event have wide appeal to motor coach and tour groups?
2. Is it near other attractions that allow tour operators to create a package?
3. Does the event have adequate motor coach parking and group accommodations?
4. Is it worthy of media coverage and is it the finest that area has to offer groups?
All mentioned above questions were answered positively before judges placed The Milwaukee Polish Fest into Top 100 list. And that’s exactly what festivals organizers should also keep in mind trying to transform any cultural happening into serious and profitable event.
How it is done you can check on June,19-21 at Summerfest Grounds in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Throughout this weekend-long festival, visitors find a perfect mix of Polish and Polish American entertainment for the entire family. Enjoy everything from polka dancing and lessons to traditional Polish Folk dancing. Sample tasty Polish cuisine and traditional American favorites from more than 20 restaurants. Shop at the Sukiennice marketplace, which boasts everything from amber jewelry to traditional glass-blown ornaments, pisanki, wood carvings and Polish Fest souvenirs. The Cultural Village is the highlight of this festival, and the annual Chopin Youth Piano Competition is not to be missed. The Village features exhibits, folk art demonstrators, artists, and legends of Poland, a Polish schoolhouse and the lowland and highland sheepdogs.
