Michael Landers was born in Boston, Massachusetts, but raised overseas, living in Colombia, Brazil and the Dominican Republic. After receiving a BA in International Relations, Michael moved to Japan where he opened a cross-cultural training firm focused on preparing Japanese professionals and their families for life in the United States. Upon returning to the US, he obtained a MA in Intercultural Training and Management at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. For the past ten years Michael’s work has focused on providing cross-cultural training, executive coaching, corporate training, and international executive recruiting for the global marketplace. . His work includes leading training programs for executives and managers on cultural adaptation & awareness, management & team building, leadership & change management, and international marketing and negotiation. His work also includes the international recruiting and relocation of high-level international executives for positions throughout the world.
Michael has conducted business in over 20 countries, leaving him with a strong understanding of the pitfalls and challenges North Americans may face while working with the global community. He is fluent in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, regularly conducting trainings in both, proficient in Japanese and has a working knowledge of Italian.
Michael is also the founder of the new online portal, culturecrossing.net, which is an evolving database of cross-cultural information about every country in the world. This free, user-built reference guide allows people from around the globe to access and share essential tips about how to navigate the world with savvy and sensitivity. An invaluable resource for travelers, businesses, students and anyone living and working in a multicultural community, it is quickly gaining recognition as the perfect primer for all one’s intercultural experiences. Michael also shares his expertise with others by lecturing at schools and universities across the country on subjects such as intercultural communication, marketing, negotiation, and management, among other topics.
Guided by his passion for exploring different cultures and learning new languages, Michael continually seeks to broaden his own understanding of the global community.
